Born in the beautiful valley of Pilibhit (Uttar
Pradesh, India) in 1955, Purnima developed a natural love for nature and beautiful things from the beginning. She realized that she was writing Hindi poems at the age of eleven.
Journalism was her first love and it stays on as well with a total experience in the field for over 20 years. She has worked as a writer, editor, reporter, freelancer, teacher, artist, graphic designer and web publisher.
Her first article was published in the magazine section of Aaj (a popular Hindi daily published from Varanasi those days) when she was sixteen, and her first radio début was a radio drama written for the Bal Jagat program of the Hindi service of BBC. Later she wrote more than 200 articles for almost every Hindi magazine and daily in India.
A regular contributor to the leading newspapers such as Amrit Prabhat
(Amrit Bazar Patrika Group), Jansatta (Indian express group), Rajansthan Patrika and Balhans
(Rajasthan Patrika Group), Manorama (Mitra Prakashan Group) and Sarita,
Mukta, Graha Shobha (Delhi Press), Purnima also prepared some programs for Akashvani and Doordarshan .
She studied literature, music and painting, wrote a thesis on “Realism In Post Independence Sanskrit Literature” and obtained diplomas in journalism, and web publishing. Urdu and Bangla are the other languages she likes to read and enjoy. She also enjoys theatre and astrology.
Happily married Purnima has a teenage daughter.
