1958 born Gyanraj Manik Prabhu is from Karnataka, India. A merit student in his high school with President's Gold Medal Award, Gyanraj did his Masters in Hindi literature. Gyan-Lahiri a collection of his poems was published in 1995. He believes that Chand (Meter) is a
very important factor in poetry, which is being neglected by modern poets.
In his words, "As a result, lines such as "Baith jaa baith
gayee khadi ho ja khadi ho gayee" also qualify as poetry. It is
worthwhile to note that poems written by Soor and Tulsi hundreds of years
ago are still popular and poems written by the so-called ‘modern’
poets are forgotten on the day they are written. I firmly believe that kavita
‘mukt-chand’ me ho sakati hai, magar ‘chand-mukt’ kabhi nahin ho
sakati." |
